For developers: Theme Review Codex page updated
The WordPress theme review page on the Codex was updated recently to reflect new guidelines and to remove previously redundant and contradictory information. The page was first created in 2010, and exists to help theme developers by listing the guidelines that are used to review submitted WordPress themes for inclusion in the WordPress Theme Directory.
Rates to increase for Envato Marketplace developers
Envato, the company behind the ThemeForest and CodeCanyon marketplaces, have announced that rates for all exclusive authors will jump from 40%-70% to 50%-70% with a $75,000 progression scale. For WordPress theme and plugin developers who contribute to these marketplaces, this means increased earnings for newcomers as well as a shorter and more achievable path to a 70% commission rate. Under the current system, authors have to accumulate $300,000 in sales to achieve a 70% commission.
Plugin from StudioPress developer makes changing themes easier
Nathan Rice, Lead Developer at WordPress theme company StudioPress, released a Plugin this week called SEO Data Transporter . The Plugin allows users to import and export their SEO data, not only from another theme to Genesis, but vice versa as well. SEO Data Transporter supports StudioPress’ own Genesis as well as competitor themes Builder, Frugal, Headway, Thesis, and WooFramework.
